devel ~ % sh /usr/src/kerberosV/src/configure --help | grep openldap
  --with-openldap=dir                use openldap in dir
  --with-openldap-lib=dir            use openldap libraries in dir
  --with-openldap-include=dir        use openldap headers in dir

I think it could be configured to use an installed openldap package. But
so far I didn't have the time to dig into this further. Maybe hin@ can
give a hint about where to start.
