It was in my first message:
sis (NS DP83815) and fxp (Intel 82557)


I should add that it is only writes over nfs that are slow:

B:/extra $ cp testfile /A/extra/         639KB/s
B:/extra $ cp /A/extra/testfile .       6155KB/s

A:/extra $ cp testfile /B/extra/         446KB/s
A:/extra $ cp /B/extra/testfile .       3046KB/s
