People are bound to say this, but GENERIC with stuff removed is not
GENERIC...
Try it with stock GENERIC, or as close to that as boots up (posting
the diffs from GENERIC) and ask here again.

This modem is a hardware based on the Lucent Chipset and is suppossed to
be
Linux compatible.
Whenever I access the device, the system locks completely. For example:
cu -l /dev/tty00
should (I believe) connect to the modem directly and let me issue AT
commands.
Instead, it completely locks up the machine.
Any suggestions?
